ULAK Communications Inc. was established by Defense Industry Technologies Inc. (SSTEK) on April 20, 2017 to carry out R&D and engineering activities of mobile and broadband communication systems used by commercial network operators, to manufacture, test, assemble and integrate, sell and market, import and export the systems and spare parts in question, and to provide training, maintenance and support services related thereto. ASELSAN took over 51% of ULAK Communications Inc. from SSTEK on October 1, 2018. HAVELSAN Inc. took over 25% of ULAK Communications Inc. shares from SSTEK on February 10, 2020.
ULAK Base Station, which is a national product of Türkiye, was developed by ASELSAN, as the main contractor, in cooperation with the companies NETAŞ and ARGELA. The developed base station solutions meet the demands of civil security, public security and military communication. ULAK Base Station is also in active use at the commercial sites of Türk Telekom, Turkcell and Vodafone, which are operators resident in Türkiye. In addition, the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure projects for the establishment of base stations in rural areas, namely. Evrensel 1 and Evrensel 2, have used ULAK base stations, too.
The advantages arising from 4.5G productization studies, field experience and similarities between technologies have become technological gains achieved for ULAK's 5G base station development and R&D processes of 5G and beyond technology studies, too. ULAK Base stations, which have been providing live service for a long time in addition to its software and hardware development experience, solve all kinds of problems quickly with 24/7 alarm and performance monitoring support. In addition to the base station products provided for mobile networks ULAK Communications Inc also offers SD-WAN (software defined wide area network), SD-DC (software defined data center) and SD-Security (software defined security) solution for its corporate customers. Many institutions and organizations in Türkiye use these products in their infrastructure.
